Originating from Epsom in Surrey, I have had an interesting and varied life throughout which my artistic talent has always prevailed after more than excelling in art at school. My experiences vary from modelling to estate agency to farming and renovating an old house in Devon, even having a craft shop for 5 years. I came to the New Forest area in 1982.
I always knew my time would come to paint, which arrived in earnest, through family circumstances in 2010.
Then I was away! After a short watercolour course I am entirely self taught; I felt I did not want to be influenced by the styles of others or the constraints of how to use a medium. I soon began to take on a lot of commissions which took my art in different directions and subjects and resulted in using various media.
My love of the animal world has had a great influence on my work: I love to find and understand the soul of my subject, which has resulted in receiving a lot of pet commissions, all of which I am very proud to say people have been delighted with. Sometimes even bringing tears!
Being self taught I now enjoy breaking the rules and dabbling with mixed media, and what fun I am having! It is a wonderful journey which knows no end.
I joined various art groups and will never forget my first Exhibition and watching people’s expressions, smiles and memories that my artwork evoked. I quickly realised that humour was an important part of my work.
With the recent establishment of a beautiful new studio I will be running workshops and will be undertaking demonstrations. My main aim is to inspire confidence and to make art fun.
So don’t be shy, get in touch if you fancy a fun day or possible weekend. I have in my shop beautiful giclee prints of most of my work, along with a range of smaller prints and greetings cards. Some of my original artworks are also available, please contact for details.
So welcome to my world!
